Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Tourism and Culture: * Attend trade shows and marketplaces related to travel trade markets on behalf of local and regional delegations (e.g. Group Tour, Travel Media, International Tour operators).

  • Establish relationships and assist with operator product development and sales related to local tourism product.
  • Conduct outreach to stakeholders and lead familiarization tours for travel trade professionals.
  • Work with local and regional stakeholders to develop and market relevant tourism experiences and packages to attract new tourism visitation to the community.
  • Develop, solicit and manage content (itineraries, blogs, website, etc,) for tourism product/experiences and all travel trade market efforts.
  • Publish and update content on online mediums to support the general and travel trade marketing efforts.
  • Track results related to lead generation, referrals made, sales closed, visitation and spending.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of annual marketing plans led by the Co-ordinator of Tourism Marketing.
  • Assist with tracking budgets related to the travel trade efforts.
  • Draft reports related to travel trade sales and results. Conduct primary and secondary research when required.
  • Support product development opportunities through proactive stakeholder meeting and partnerships, locally, regionally, and provincially.
  • Assist in general tourism administration, development activities and events, as required.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism or Business Administration) from a recognized Community College with Canadian accreditation.
  • Over one (1) year up to and including two and one-half (2) years of related experience.
  • Ability to travel provincially, nationally, and internationally as required.
  • Ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g. file maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet applications, desktop publishing, presentation software, information input and retrieval, etc.).
  • Demonstrate skills and abilities related to the use of information technology, client relationship management, and social media tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of best practices within areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational and analytical ability.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal skills highly desirable; written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
