About the position
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Transportation Planner is responsible for arranging the transportation of all inbound, outbound, direct and stock transfer orders.
What you’ll do:
  • Manages a portfolio of carriers to arrange the transportation of all inbound, outbound, direct or stock transfer orders
  • Responsible for safe, efficient, legal & economical operation of all transportation activities
  • Responsible for meeting customer delivery requirements in a cost-effective manner
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders (vendors, carriers) to communicate requirements
  • Use and maintain SAP Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize common carrier, dedicated fleet and private fleet freight orders
  • Work with local plants on capacity planning and special requirements
  • Support EHS & Sales regarding compliance, health, safety and environmental affairs
  • Assist internal stakeholders on corrective actions related to missed deliveries, incidents, capacity, determining root cause and establishing preventative actions
  • Reconcile freight expense variances
  • Other tasks as assigned

What you’ll need:
  • Post secondary degree or 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
  • Able to work independently, manage priorities, and take on new tasks
  • Proficiency in MS office applications
