As a technical writer at Ubisoft Winnipeg, you'll have the opportunity to combine your love for technology, your writing abilities, and a strong focus on user experience to deliver high-quality, well-organized documentation that Scalar users and developers will rely on to create games.

Your focus will be on writing and editing documentation not only for Scalar users but also for our developers. You will also interact with multiple teams and disciplines to guide them as they create documentation in alignment with the Scalar vision and the overall strategy at Ubisoft.

Ubisoft Scalar is a new foundational technology leveraging the possibilities of cloud computing to enable unprecedented freedom and scale for the games of tomorrow. Ubisoft Scalar take the components and systems of traditional game engines and transforms them into microservices in the cloud - moving from the closed, single-processor systems of today to a distributed model across a potentially unlimited number of machines.

Responsibilities

Write and improve technical documentation for content creators and developers

Combine text with supporting visual elements to present complex information in a manner that can be easily understood by the target audience

Edit, clarify, and proofread technical documents written by your colleagues

Follow documentation standards regarding templates, order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology

Help improve Scalar glossary, taxonomy, and style guide projects

Promote documentation standards and coach non-writers on ways to improve their writing skills

Manage the documentation process, including the creation, editing, versioning, and publishing of documentation

Enforce workflows to keep the documentation up to date and relevant

Organize documentation for Scalar-based game productions

Qualifications

You're skilled in taking complex information and making it accessible. You have good knowledge of technical writing principles and style and put them to use consistently. You've got good organizational skills, prioritize well, and when you need more information, are proactive in finding it. Besides the above, we're looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

3 years experience in technical writing

Good knowledge of technical writing principles and style (grammar, syntax, tone/voice, precision, conciseness, parallelism, etc.)

Experience designing and delivering user and developer documentation

The following would be a bonus:

Experience working on or closely with software development teams

Practical knowledge of a programming language

Experience with Confluence, Gitlab, Jira

Experience with Markdown

Experience working with agile project management methodologies
