We are seeking a talented and motivated full-time Technical Writer to write content to empower our customers to understand how to use Tailscale for their scenarios. Tailscale is a technical product, but our great user experience makes us stand out with everyone, from hobbyists to seasoned IT professionals. Our documentation team needs to be able to provide content that helps users understand complex security, networking, and privacy concepts.

Responsibilities:

As part of the documentation team, you will:

• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Product, Support, Marketing, and other teams to research documentation needs and priorities
• Write great content to help users understand Tailscale and adopt Tailscale features, including documenting new features and changelogs as part of launches
• Review internal and external feedback to drive improvements to content
• Develop an in-depth understanding of Tailscale features and functionality

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in technical writing for complex software products
• Ability to author robust content independently
• Demonstrated success in owning the content experience
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Excellent written communication skills
• Passion for user experience
• Strong attention to detail and thoroughness
• Competency in using GitHub
• Familiarity with Markdown authoring tools
• Familiarity with online publishing processes
• Experience with security or networking products
• Passion for user security and privacy

For this position, our target salary range is $145,000-$195,000 USD (paid in your local currency). As a company, we strive to maintain fair and equitable compensation practices within our team across all roles and all levels.
