The Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada The Role: Technical Product Specialist - Spatial The Team: As a Technical Product Specialist, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for supporting the Upstream Content Spatial technologies and service products in the North America Upstream Energy Content product portfolio. The Impact: This position will support driving profitable revenue growth of data product(s) through extensive understanding of market needs and requirements to solve customer problems. The Technical Product Specialist supports the product lifecycle and is responsible for the assisting with product strategy, vision, and technology roadmaps. In this position, requires understanding and experience in the Upstream Energy industry specific to the domain supported by the product. Responsibilities:
  • Subject Matter Expert in Upstream Content data delivery spatial technologies
  • Development of data driven dashboards and analytics
  • Ownership of ETL processes and monitoring
  • Responsible for documenting market requirements to support customer workflows and solutions
  • Learning exploration workflows and testing them with our products, suggesting features and working with internal stakeholders or clients to gather requirements
  • Works with Product Marketing and Commercialization to create effective customer value propositions that result in customer adoption of new products or enhancements to existing products
  • Collaborate with team members and work directly with business units to define, prototype and showcase results.
  • Participates in customer focus / advisory and or user groups
What We’re Looking For: The ideal Technical Product Specialist has experience in the development, management and/or support of spatial based technologies (Esri), ETL (FME), and SQL. Comfortable working with tools such as Power BI or Spotfire.
  • Typically, 1+ years of industry related experience, with a current knowledge of the Upstream Energy sector.
  • A bachelor or master’s degree (or equivalent) in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics Engineering, Data Analytics or related field
  • Proficiency with spatial data management using FGBD, SDE, data manipulation
  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following spatial technologies, Esri technologies (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcPro, ArcGIS Insights, Portal
  • Proficient in Extract, Transfer and Load tools such as FME Desktop, FME Server
  • Proficient SQL and database experience
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Be an effective communicator, self-motivated, and able to drive insights into actions
  • An aptitude to learn new technologies
  • The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire, or Tableau
  • Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse
  • Experience with ArcGIS Server Map Services and/or Feature Services
  • Ability to explain a technical subject to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with scientific scripting languages (e.g., Python, R)
  • Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,300 - $115,850. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
