Job Description

Job Summary
Alberta Soccer is excited to recruit for the Technical Coordinator position. The successful candidate will be responsible for Alberta Soccer Coaching and Programming and will report to the Alberta Soccer Sporting Director. This position is responsible for developing and delivering player and coaching programs.

Purpose of Position

• Work alongside Alberta Soccer members on all Technical Development programming and issues through the development and performance streams of the Canada Soccer Long-Term Player Development model.
• Develop, organize and oversee Alberta Soccer and joint-district programs, projects, and coaching courses across the province to deliver technical content and programming.
• Work closely with the Alberta Soccer staff assigned to the program registration and course management duties for projects & programs, acting as their indirect supervisor on development programming.
• Provide and support programs to ensure player registration, retention, education, talent identification, promotion, training and development in Alberta.
• To liaise with the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and the CSA Provincial Representative on all technical and project-related matters in Canada.

Duties

•A. Planning and Budgeting•

In concert with the Alberta Soccer Sporting Director and Alberta Soccer Financial Manager, the Technical Coordinator is responsible for:

1) Quarterly monitoring of the annual and multi-year plans, as they relate to performance programming, for inclusion in the Association's annual planning process and alignment with strategic goals set by the Alberta Soccer Board of Directors.

2) The preparation, in collaboration with the Sporting Director, of the annual program budget, as it relates to performance programming, for inclusion in the Association's annual budgeting process.

3) Monitoring and controlling the approved budget, income and expenditures related to performance programming.

4) The preparation of the annual program evaluation and reporting documents.

5) Provide financial records within the approved timelines stated by the Alberta Soccer Financial Manager and Sporting Director.

•B. Coach Education & Development•

1) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and Canada Soccer representatives, assist in the planning, organization, delivery and review of Grassroots Coach Education programs.

2) Support Alberta Soccer's formal and informal coach education programs and initiatives.

3) Act as the point of contact for Learning Facilitators to organization, and delivery and the grassroots coaching workshops.

4) Overseeing the development of Learning Facilitators within the soccer community.

5) Support the Alberta Soccer Coach Education program delivery by becoming a Learning Facilitator for Grassroots Courses.

6) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and Canada Soccer representatives, assist in the planning, organization, delivery and review of Advanced Coach Education programs.

•C. Player Development Programming•

1) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and Canada Soccer representatives, support the review, assessment and appropriate approval or renewal of Alberta Clubs applying for the Canada Soccer Skill Centre Licensing.

2) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and associated organization representatives, lead in the planning and delivery of Futsal activities, including coaching courses and festival delivery.

3) Organize, coordinate logistics, and oversee player identification events for Albert Soccer with the soccer community members, including evaluators and coaches.

4) Support Alberta Soccer members in their player development planning and delivery of festival-style events.

•D. Club Licensing & Development•

1) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and Canada Soccer representatives, support the review, assessment and appropriate approval of Alberta Clubs applying to the Canada Soccer Club Licensing program for the National Youth Club Licencing (NYCL).

2) Assist with informal and formal observation protocols to ensure the ongoing compliance of each National Youth Club Licencing (NYCL) license holder.

3) In collaboration with the Sporting Director and Canada Soccer representatives, assist in the review, assessment and appropriate approval of Alberta Clubs applying to the Canada Soccer Club Licensing program for SQS, MA1 and MA2 licensing applications.

4) Develop and deliver support processes to assist the member associations of Alberta Soccer to understand and implement the specific criteria to fulfill licensing requirements.

•E. Human Resources•

1) Maintain a close relationship with Alberta Soccer members to encourage adherence to standards and appropriate communication with the relevant District.

2) Establish a positive, safe, healthy corporate/team environment that is conducive to high morale and satisfactory interaction between all employees.

3) Follow the performance planning and appraisal process.

4) Participate in ongoing personal training and/or performance improvement plans as required.

•F. Reporting•

1) Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and inform staff on productivity in defined areas of responsibility.

2) Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information to the Sporting Director.

3) Submit complete and accurate reports, plans, and expense reports (timeline to be approved by the Sporting Director).

Qualifications

•A. Education•

• Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in Sport Management or a related business degree preferred
• Experience in event management or sports associations is an asset.
• CONCACAF C-Diploma/National C-License or currently enrolled.
• Learning Facilitator training would be an asset.

•B. Knowledge, skills and abilities•

• Knowledge and understanding of the Provincial & National Sport System, PSO environment, and provincial sports landscape.
• Should have three or more years of experience coaching athletes.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Zoom, and other computer applications.
• Experience in creating, implementing and evaluating multi-year development plans for development programs.
• Creative and adaptable problem solver with the ability to manage evolving situations
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with volunteers in a not-for-profit environment
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Can work with minimal supervision.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Must be well organized with excellent time management skills.
• Knowledge of financial management is an asset.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Enhanced Police Record Check required.
• Personal vehicle and a valid driver's license are required for travel.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and extended hours when necessary

Working Conditions

• The Technical Coordinator will work primarily in an office environment. the Association will most often take them to non-standard workplaces with travel requirements throughout the province.
• o The Technical Coordinator on occasion, will be required to work evening and weekend hours.

This is a full time position and compensation will be reflective of experience .
