Our IT Team
At Cinesite Vancouver, the IT department is responsible for the security, performance and functionality of all hardware, software and technology-related systems. We source, design and implement solutions to ensure the smoothest possible technology operation for all employees.
The Technical Assistant (TA) will work with the IT team in various capacities. For render-related duties, the TA will work with the Render Systems Administrator to monitor and control the rendering process and manage the render farm. They will also troubleshoot lightweight IT issues as they arise, as well as handle various I/O data transfer operations in a secure manner. They will need to juggle multiple priorities, including troubleshooting desktop related issues, providing first line support and keeping others updated with progress.
What you will be doing


  • Create and update tickets and provide data and feedback when issues arise
  • Take the initiative in providing technical support to users and the help desk team as required
  • Ensure relevant documentation is kept updated and organized
  • Setup and configure desktop computers, peripherals and account
  • Handle ingest & egress data transfer jobs as required
  • Ensure security and all standard protocols are followed for all data transfers
  • Elevate non-standard requests for approval
  • Monitor, manage and keep the render farm running at maximum capacity
  • Maintain rendering priorities, blocking and unblocking jobs and allocating rendering resources when necessary
  • Identify and report render errors to artists, developers and assist when needed
  • Provide after hours and weekend support for render, helpdesk & I/O
  • Communicate technical information to all levels
  • Pass information on to the next TA on shift

What you will bring to the team

  • Willingness to work very flexible hours, including weekends, evenings or graveyard shifts when production schedules require
  • Ability to understand basic computer terminology and identify hardware and peripherals
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard software (Maya, Tractor, etc…) an asset
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Know basic fundamentals of Windows & linux operating systems
  • Good communication, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt as required
