JOB SUMMARY

As a Technical Architect role, you will join a highly motivated and knowledgeable team that is responsible for the technical review and oversight of requirements definition, application and infrastructure selection/acquisition, development, and deployment to ensure that all CIHR technology integrates correctly and operates reliably and securely.

As a Technical Architect you support delivery teams in the development of detailed solution roadmaps for a well-defined set of capabilities or logical group of systems, services or projects. You partner closely with the Digital and Security Services staff and project management to ensure that implementation meets design expectations. You are proactive in reaching out to architects and leaders in teams with which your technology integrates and you drive results through strong cross-functional collaboration. You serve as the organization's subject matter expert for capabilities in your portfolio. You seek organizational and government wide context and apply learnings to architecture solutions. In doing so, you lead the evaluation of alternative technology solutions, including Commercial Off the shelf (COTS). Cloud and Open-Source products that are consistent with CIHR's architectural standards, to support business solutions. You also participate and present at architecture design reviews and communicate trade-offs in different types of architecture processes.

Essential Qualifications

Education
- Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed, or acceptable combination of education experience, and training.

Experience
- *Significant experience in providing recommendations to management on **complex issues related to the delivery of Information Technology services.
- Experience as an Enterprise Architect under at least one of the following domains: Solution Architecture, Application Architecture or Technology Architecture.
- Experience working with clients to recommend IM/IT technical options or an IM/IT solution to address business or technical requirements.

*Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately two (2) to three (3) years. However, a shorter duration may be considered based on demonstrated complexity and diversity of work handled, scope of work, and/or level of direct responsibility for a wide variety of complex files and/or projects.
**Complex issues are defined as issues having two (2) or more of the following characteristics. Multidimensional, sensitive, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting, or having a major impact on IM/IT services or products.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of current and emerging digital trends.
- Knowledge of modeling techniques for describing enterprise architectures such as UML and/or ArchiMate.
- Knowledge of one or more technical areas (data analytics, cloud applications and SaaS/PaaS/IaaS technologies, design and development of RESTful and/or SOAP services, content management systems, networking, etc.).

Asset Qualifications

Certification
- AWS Certified Solution Architect, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, Google, Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL and/or CISSP.
