Reports to: Engineering Manager

Based at: Whitehorse, YT (with the opportunity to work remotely from home)

Position Purpose: Working closely with other Team Leads, coordinate Service Line team mates and maintain the technical capability and production requirements of the discipline.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Service Line Accountabilities \xe2\x80\x93 Workload Management and Engineering Quality

Regional Accountabilities - Client Relationships and Operational Management

Alongside the Engineering Managers, forecast workload for staffing targets and coordinate workload among team mates.

Motivate, train and mentor, and discipline direct reports according to company policies and guidelines.

Provide Technical oversight on single and multi-discipline projects.

Develop team mate Career Paths and provide performance appraisals, with input from the Engineering Manager.

Share expertise with other offices, maintain technical capability and provide technical expertise on projects.

Assist the Engineering Manager with proposal preparation as required.

Work with others to increase the overall technical capability of the discipline.

Act as senior client contact for key clients.

Stamp own project design and reports and that of engineers in training for whom you are providing peer review as appropriate.

Team mates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.

Stay current with changes in own discipline.

Establish basic operating standards, and accomplish objectives in the most economical manner to manage unusual conditions.

Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Relationship Managers and Directors to secure large multi-company projects.

Work as the Project Manager, Relationship Manager or Technical Specialist to provide our clients with finished projects in a timely manner.

Identify completed projects in your discipline that are eligible for technical awards, ensure projects are submitted.

Analyze existing data to forecast business choices regarding budget forecasting, budget variances, client profitability, risk management and report findings to the Engineering Manager or Engineering Director as appropriate.

Understand and participate in resolving issues with cost control, non-recoverable expenditures, and utilization.

Perpetuate, clarify, and embody WEC Purpose and Core Values.

Education & Experience:

  • Shall hold or be working towards a P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation. A P.Eng. designation with experience in Yukon, NWT, or Nunavut will be considered an asset.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 8+ years experience under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • Strong design and project management skills.
  • The ability to recognize and accurately define problems and solutions by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the company to WEC team mates, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
  • Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, , and discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)
