Summary:

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort - Winter 2023/2024

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Snowmaking Team Lead is a key member of the Mountain Operations team. This role ensures the snowmaking equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff and continually strives to provide our guests the finest mountain recreational experience by providing safe and well-maintained terrain.

Snowmaking Team Lead - Winter 2023/2024

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Snowmaking Team Lead is a key member of the Mountain Operations team. This role ensures the snowmaking equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff and continually strives to provide our guests the finest mountain recreational experience by providing safe and well-maintained terrain.

Hours

All seasonal roles work flexible shifts, which are subject to varying hours. Most roles will work between 24 and 40 hours per week, but hours may be lower in some weeks as they are dependent on factors such as weather and visitation levels.

Accountabilities

\xc2\xb7 Operate snowmaking and related equipment in a safe and responsible manner

\xc2\xb7 Maintain daily snowmaking log

\xc2\xb7 Perform pre- and post-operation checks

\xc2\xb7 Perform daily light maintenance on equipment (topping up fluids, cleaning interior and exterior, greasing, and fuelling of machine as needed)

\xc2\xb7 Layout, connect and charge hoses (setup)

\xc2\xb7 Discharge, disconnect, thaw and drain hoses (teardown)

\xc2\xb7 Activate and deactivate snowmaking pump

\xc2\xb7 Recognize and report any potential hazards to Grooming Team, Mountain Safety, and/or Maintenance Manager as appropriate and assist in emergency situations

\xc2\xb7 Recognize and report any unusual situations (unusual noises, poor production quality, etc.)

\xc2\xb7 Provide assistance to maintenance staff and assist with other general duties as assigned

\xc2\xb7 Perform snow removal and snow farming (including snowmaking and snow fencing)

\xc2\xb7 Monitor and adjust snow gun as required

\xc2\xb7 Performance management

Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic operations and maintenance of equipment

\xc2\xb7 Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski / snowboarding terrain needs

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience with snowmaking or terrain building an asset

Working Conditions

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening or night shifts

\xc2\xb7 Must be physically capable of operating and maintaining equipment

\xc2\xb7 This role will be exposed for brief periods to extreme weather conditions at the resort (snow, wind, cold) in isolated areas

\xc2\xb7 This role involves working with high voltage and high water pressure.
