As the Team Lead, Innovation Partnerships and Impact, you will be responsible for the Innovation Lab\xe2\x80\x99s partnerships (i.e., dedicated/embedded staff within area of The City of Calgary such as the Infrastructure Services Department & Water Utility) and the Innovation Lab\xe2\x80\x99s Measurement & Evaluation portfolio.

The Team Lead will also be responsible for managing associated Innovation Lab staff, and approaches to support the delivery of Innovation Lab services (e.g., Projects, Learning and Network Forums) to partners. As a thought leader in design-based innovation and measurement & evaluation, the role ensures that the frameworks, processes, and tools are maintained at a high standard and align to global practices. Primary duties include:

  • Lead the development & maintenance of partnerships between the Innovation Lab and internal City of Calgary Departments and/or Business Units.
  • Lead the development of partner-specific innovation strategies and resourcing plans to support partner\xe2\x80\x99s innovation goals and agendas.
  • Lead the development of Measurement & Evaluation frameworks, processes and tools for all Innovation Lab services (Projects, Learning and Network Forums).
  • Ensure portfolio oversight of the concurrent partner services including contributing to setting strategy, metrics and Key Performance Indicators, progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop and manage a team of Innovation Lab staff for the delivery of services to partners and Measurement & Evaluation including:
    • Develop recruitment business cases, validate and/or secure funding, complete recruitment competitions, and ensuring successful onboarding, integration, and training of new team members.
    • Performance management and conflict resolution both for direct reports, and project contributors as appropriate.
    • Monitoring and adjusting budget and human resource required to support delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead, Innovation Practice & Projects, to ensure a strong practice of experienced innovation professionals to deliver partner projects directed by ELT, SMT, Mayor and Council, and staff within The City;
  • Provide specific direction on change leadership within the Innovation Lab Program, and with Senior Leadership on partner-based projects related to innovation best practices.







Qualifications
  • A degree (e.g., Science, Arts, Social Science, Public Administration, Business, Design, Planning or related) with a combination of at least 10 years of relevant innovation design & progressive leadership experience, working in highly complex environments.
  • A graduate degree will be considered an asset.
  • Experience may include, but is not limited to, a combination of progressive leadership (formal and informal), service design, strategic planning, customer experience, systems design, human-centred design, management consulting, change leadership, project management, measurement & evaluation, and developmental evaluation.
  • Strong assets include:
    • Either experience in a complex, multi-union environment or experience of City processes, culture and existing networks.
    • Excellent communication skills. Influencing. relationship building and political acumen.
    • Experience developing strategies, workplans, delegating work to staff, and supporting project execution.
    • Excellent facilitation, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Compensation: Level E $80,640 - $121,760 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
