Scope of the Position

The Senior Tax Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Tax, and will be responsible for the tax compliance function of the corporate tax team. The Senior Tax Analyst will prepare complex corporate tax returns and assist in corporate tax audits. This role will also be responsible for preparing tax provision calculations for quarterly and year-end financial reporting . In addition, Senior Tax Analyst will have the opportunity to assist in tax planning and transaction projects.


Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance \xe2\x80\x93 60%

  • Prepare Canadian income tax returns including T2, T3, T5013, T1134, T1135, T106, country-by-country reporting and election forms;
  • Prepare the annual Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS) reporting for Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund (re: taxable allocation to Unitholders);
  • Prepare supporting analysis required to maintain the transfer pricing documentation, including quarterly estimate and annual calculation;
  • Communicate with Canada Revenue Agency and other provincial tax authorities in connection with income and sales tax audits, tax notices and other request;
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are executed and followed.

Tax Accounting \xe2\x80\x93 35%
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision in Longview Tax;
  • Prepare book-to-return true-up adjustment;
  • Post related tax journal entries.

Special Projects/Adhoc Reporting \xe2\x80\x93 5%
  • Assist with tax planning and transaction projects, including tax research;
  • Respond to ad hoc tax queries from internal parties;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Be Successful
  • CPA
  • University Degree in mathematics, commerce, business, or accounting.
  • Completion or enrolment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Canadian corporate tax.
  • Strong analytical skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer skills, including high proficiency in Taxprep and Excel (Intermediate to Advanced level).
  • Experience with SAP and Longview Tax an asset.
  • Must have strong work ethics, willingness to learn, able to follow standard filing procedure.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills, enabling completion of responsibilities within deadlines.
