Job Description

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is hiring world-leading specialists to transform our understanding of mental health by organizing, integrating, analyzing, visualizing and modelling data across all levels of the brain --from genes to circuits to behaviour. This multimodal data is gathered across the clinical environment including genetic, epigenetic, MRI, DTI, fMRI, hd-EEG, actigraphy and electronic medical record data. Teams will employ state-of-the-art techniques including topological data analysis, machine learning and multiscale computational modeling to accelerate identification and treatment of mental health disorders. Research is performed in an open, team science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The centre will operate as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels.

Position Summary
The System Lead - Research Electronic Data Capture will work in collaboration with the Neuroinformatics team to ensure the management of the CAMH Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) systems, including data assets, data lineage and data access. Reporting to the KCNI Operations Director, The successful candidate will lead the continued development of platform governance, ensuring compliance with research and clinical applications. The successful candidate will ensure the consistent application of data models and provenance tracking, data quality and data accuracy across data collection initiatives, including common data elements for standardization.

You have expertise coordinating end-to-end data research flows, building and curating electronic case report forms, applying data structures and provenance to ensure long-term data reusability for analysis. You should have an active interest in electronic data collection in mental health and have worked with health care data, including assessment and clinical data. Key Accountabilities
Working with informatics teams, research and clinical stakeholders, your responsibilities include the management, integrity and maintenance of a central research data capture platform and alignment with the research and enterprise data warehouses, by;

  • Lead REDCap subcommittee(s) and oversee implementation of team projects
  • Manage and maintain operational and governance structures for REDcap at CAMH
  • Develop strategies for service delivery, including technology, user communication and support.
  • Managing data access, permissions and roles to ensure compliance with privacy and research ethics.
  • Curation of a data dictionary and common data elements, ensuring data lineage to support sound data analysis.
  • Supporting eCRF builds for various hospital stakeholders.
  • Ensuring consistent application of data models and provenance tracking, including data quality and data accuracy across initiatives.
  • Co-ordinating end-to-end data flows and identifying data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management to ensure long-term data reusability.
  • Working with the Knowledge Engineering lead to apply and refine data models.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Health Records, Neuroscience, Information Science, or related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience providing data capture system support, specifically for REDCap.
  • 3+ years of hands-on data experience, with demonstrated increase of responsibilities over time.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in an active research environment, ideally, including a combination of direct research experience and experience in data management, technology setting.
  • 3+ years experience building electronic case report forms.
  • Strong knowledge of data management across the research lifecycle, including creation, processing, analysis, preservation, access, and reuse of research data.
  • Expertise working with versioning control systems, package management software and software development life cycles.
  • Experience creating and maintaining metadata and applying best practices to managed content.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; balancing strategic alignment with technology roadmap and emerging industry trends with practical delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with research faculty, students, and staff in a team environment.
Desired
  • Exposure to mental health and addictions research.
  • Experience co-ordinating research studies, including multi-site investigations.
  • Understanding and practice of matching/merging datasets.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset

Please note: This full-time, contract (1 year) position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Union.

Salary range: $38.21 - $51.54 per hour
