This position will be remote, reporting to our Corporate Head Office on 6080 Young Street, Halifax, NS. As part of the IT group, the System Administrator will be responsible for a wide variety of activities relating to the management of IT systems and products/applications which help deliver Eastlink\'s solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day to day support of diverse and highly available Linux environments providing Eastlink internal and external services
• Deploying new Linux infrastructure to support business initiatives
• Work with network and hardware teams to troubleshoot, provide recommendations, and proactively monitor systems
• Strong security focus applying best practices, patching, and monitoring security vulnerabilities
• Collaborate with team members to develop automation and deployment process strategies
• Participate in the design of new solutions and provide input on improvements and management of the existing infrastructure
• Participate in Agile sprints as required

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education focused in Computer Science, Data Communications/Networking, Information Technology or a related field
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Centos)
• Experience working with the following technologies is preferred:
• System Monitoring (Patching and Vulnerabilities)
• System Programming, Scripting, and Automation
• Common Open Source tools and applications
• VMware vSphere and SAN technology
• Managing system backups and restores
• Cloud experience is considered an asset
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Puppet are considered an asset
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Docker and Kubernetes are considered an asset
• Strong networking knowledge, IP addressing, firewall rules, DNS and troubleshooting network issues
• Familiar with scripting in shell, Perl, or Python
• Windows experience considered an asset
• Understanding of Agile methodology would be an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
