Reporting to the Senior Manager, Agency Services, the Syndications Agency Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient administration of the agency and operational responsibilities of a portfolio of syndicated loans within the Loan Syndications Agency Team.

The primary focus of the Syndications Agency Specialist is to facilitate the administration of syndicated credit agreements in accordance with their terms. The Syndications Agency Specialist liaises with high profile clients and large financial institutions to effectively manage a portfolio of syndicated loans and work with ATB's loan syndications system.

Your Impact:

  • Liaising with borrowers, arrangement team, relationship managers, and operations groups at participating financial institutions
  • Managing deal cash flows, wires, and other daily financial transactions
  • Assuming the responsibility of large value money transfers (processing, monitoring, following up, etc.)
  • Researching and resolving various complex loan servicing activities
Syndicated Transactions Pre-Deal Closing:
  • Serve as an integral team member within the Loan Syndications Agency Group by reviewing loan documents at transaction origination, representing bank loan operations and lenders, and providing input on lender communications, letters of credit, swingline facilities, loan draws and repayments
  • Assist the deal team with managing "closing checklists" for documentation and information required prior to close
  • Create funds flow memorandums (e.g. Sources and Uses) to communicate funding and ensure funds flow memo has all wire instructions, no funding errors exist, and amounts are confirmed
  • Gather and check documentation from participants (administrative details, payment instructions, tax forms, etc.)
Syndicated Transactions Deal Closing:
  • Manage all internal components of closing and funding
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the loan syndications system, participant lenders, and clients during funding
  • Ensure all wires have been sent in accordance with the written instructions from the client and the credit agreement
Syndicated Transactions Post-Deal Closing:
  • Manage collection, confirmation, and posting of all financial transaction requirements (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly)
  • Ensure that notifications are sent to the Lenders and to clients with regards to fees, interest payments, principal payments and LIBOR/SOFR/BA transactions
  • Coordinate with the Borrower to ensure payments are made in a timely manner
  • Manage the daily activities and responsibilities of the syndications systems and facility set-up
  • Verify the accuracy of all interest payments, fee calculations and other loan repayments
Ongoing Agency Services
  • Facilitate loan drawdowns, repayments, interest rate resets and fee payments via the loan syndications system and/or manual process
  • Prepare and dispatch fee invoices and wires
  • Process payments to both Lenders and Borrowers
  • Reconcile bank statements and bank confirmations
  • Review daily reports/exceptions/irregularities and inform the manager of any deviations for corrective actions
  • Monitor performance of syndications system and exercise appropriate control measures
  • Solve routine problems that may arise on account of delays in processing and accurate reporting etc
  • Work with credit agreements and documentation, in conjunction with the arrangement team to resolve any operational and related issues
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to senior management on key facility events and processes
  • Maintain an effective diary system so that all time bound actions are taken without any lapse
  • Manage various escrow, project, collection, income accounts to manage structured facilities
  • Manage and resolve the operational problems by probing into the issues and by taking corrective steps to avoid reoccurrence
Requirements:

What you bring to the team:
  • 3-5 years of Syndicated Loan and Agency administration experience, preferably working on the agent/lead side of deals
  • Bachelors Degree in business or economics or other equivalent professional designation
  • Loan IQ /ACBS Loan System experience - highly preferred
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • Project Finance (P3) and construction/development financing Agency experience - highly preferred
  • Previous experience and an understanding of credit agreements and lending
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational/time management skills
  • An understanding of loan documents and credit agreements
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong team player with the ability and mindset to also work autonomously
  • High level of accountability
  • Proactive approach
  • Ability to remain current with the syndication industry and evolving with industry practice
  • A knowledge of money transfers and experience with large value transfer system
