Connective – People and Talent Specialist

Using a person-centered approach, Connective provides practical support to people with complex needs facing multiple barriers, including those who may be involved in the criminal justice system, have developmental disabilities, or experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, or problematic substance use. Through our over 90 years of service delivery, we have demonstrated expertise and leadership in the social and criminal justice sector.
 
Connective is looking for a dynamic People and Talent Specialist to join their team as a recruitment expert in either their Prince George or Yukon office. You will partner with members of the People and Culture Team to ensure day-to-day recruitment operations are managed effectively to support the organization’s growing team. You will be promoting and implementing strategic recruitment practices to attract and retain successful candidates through market research, social media usage, and other best practices. There is opportunity for this role to grow into a more robust HR position for the right candidate.
 
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Manage the full recruitment cycle from sourcing to offer, and everything in between
Be the recruitment hub for hiring managers posting internal and external positions as requested, along with coordinating and scheduling interviews and keeping the lines of communication open regarding recruitment process
Conduct resume screening, and perform both email and telephone screening interviews
You are the face of the organization leading and participating in interviews alongside managers, or independently when needed
You will process required clearances such as, criminal background checks, references checks, and education verification when needed
Follow best practices for recruitment and stay up today with the latest recruitment methods – improving the process to support growing recruitment needs and maximize candidate reach
Works closely with the HR team and Director HR in establishing the recruitment strategy and roadmap
Maintain the Applicant Tracking System and ensures information is up to date
Manage the organization’s reference check system (Screening Canada)
Participate in relevant job fairs, conferences, workshops, and learning opportunities to support both the organization and your own personal growth
Report preparation on the recruitment process and other reports as needed
You are comfortable communicating with candidates via email, phone and social media
Other duties as assigned
 
 
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
You are a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. You have a great sense of humour and don’t take yourself too seriously.
You have a degree or diploma in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Five years’ work experience in a recruitment-based environment, preferably in an agency. Prior recruitment experience in the social services sector is a huge asset
You love people and have a demonstrated commitment to a high level of customer service
You have the flexibility to travel throughout the Northern Region if required (Yukon & Prince George)
Available to work flexible hours as needed. May include some evenings/weekends, as determined by the administrative office needs and schedules
Microsoft Office suite is second nature to you
Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and competing priorities
You have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills along with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. You get bonus points if you can juggle!
Experience working knowledge of non-profit organizations and work environments along with prior work experience working with people with development disabilities is preferred
