We are looking for a sushi chef to join our culinary team. Sushi chef responsibilities include handling a wide range of raw fish, seafood and other ingredients, managing food cost and fulfilling all orders with high quality standard and great customer service.
Sushi Yugen is the top 3 Japanese restaurant in Canada and our executive chef from Japan has over 25 years of experience.
Responsibilities
Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
Preparing various types of nigiri and Japanese dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products and maintaining food cost
Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.
Communicating with server staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met
Qualifications:
At least 2 years' experience in making nigiri sushi
Able to work in fast-paced environment and a team player
Sound knowledge of food safety regulations.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Knowledge of Japanese is an asset
Passionate and knowledgeable with Japanese cuisine, providing recommendations and creating excellent guest experiences
