Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and a strong understanding of sushi preparation techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional methods and recipes. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations. Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient workflow during busy service periods. Assist in the development of new menu items and seasonal offerings. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including regular cleaning of tools and equipment. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.

Experience

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry. Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food service practices. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for handling raw fish and other ingredients. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, showcasing your ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent attention to detail with a passion for creating visually appealing dishes. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating independence when necessary.
