Job Description

Masaki Sushi is seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, particularly in sushi and Japanese cuisine.

Position Summary:

Assists the Executive Chef in the kitchen to prepare and administer all activities associated with the presentation of superior food for a fine dining establishment in a professional, efficient and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Primary Responsibilities:

Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity

4-5 years experience working in a Japanese dining facility preparing sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki Experience working in a management capacity and leading a Team to success Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies Administrative duties, such as placing orders (through our ordering system) and scheduling staff Performing various Human Resources functions (assisting with Recruitment & Selection, providing training and coaching, assisting in conducting performance reviews) Cooking and preparing menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team Answer, report and follow direction of the General Manager of the company Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion Comply with Company regulations and determined safety standards Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests All other duties as assigned
Professional Requirements:

4-5 years work experience in a kitchen or similar environment Excellent eye-hand coordination Red Seal Fine motor skills for cutting, chopping and arranging of meals on plates Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations in a dynamic environment Excellent time management skills Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset

Physical Requirements:



Physical demands of lifting up to 50 lbs. including bending and carrying Standing for extended periods of time Working in extreme temperatures of hot and cold within the kitchen Constant noise and interruptions of busy kitchen atmosphere
