POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Telecommunications Supervisor\'s responsibility is to supervise the Telecommunications staff and their daily work functions and activities. This includes planning and creating schedules for Telecommunications that meet the needs and activities of the department. The Telecommunications Supervisor will arrange for training, supervise workers and daily activities, resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity. The Telecommunications Supervisor is also responsible for the ordering of equipment and supplies from requisitioning through receipt to ensure all orders are correctly processed and received.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Telecommunications staff and their daily work functions and activities
  • Plans and creates work schedules for unionized Telecommunications staff according Collective Agreement
  • Identifies training needs and creates and maintains training materials for all staff, including new hires
  • Arranges training for new and existing staff members
  • Investigates and resolves issues and recommends measures to improve processes and productivity
  • Monitors inventory levels, requisitions and orders materials, equipment and supplies
  • Works with clinicians, managers, physicians, clerical staff and others to identify opportunities for improvement in Telecommunications procedures, processes and activities
  • Prepares, runs and analyses Telecommunication call centre reports using various reporting tools such as Finesse
  • Participates in activities related to Telecommunication upgrades and enhancements
  • Manages, monitors and troubleshoots Telecommunication operational issues and requests using the ticket tracking system
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures
  • Escalates issues to managers as required
  • Provides backup of ordering of materials, equipment and supplies for the Service Desk
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-3 years working experience in a hospital Telecommunications Switchboard environment.
  • Post-secondary education preferred;
  • 2-3 years\' experience in planning and coordinating work activities and staff;
  • Proven skills in problem identification and resolution;
  • Proven experience in scheduling of both union and non-unionized staff;
  • Strong ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities;
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Highly self-motivated and directed;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions, sometimes in emergency situations;
  • Proven effective planning and organizational skills;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills;
  • The capacity to nurture and mentor others;
  • Demonstrated documentation skills using MS Office;
  • Great attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of confidential and privacy practices;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health\'s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area; and,
