Summer Municipal parks general labourer
1 Seasonal Full Time Spring/Summer Position
Salary: $21.00/hr.
Term: June 30, 2025, to August 29, 2025
Working: 40 hours/week; Parks and Recreation/Public Works
Reports To: Recreation Coordinator, Manager Infrastructure and Growth, Parks and Recreation Lead Hand
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform manual labor with hand and power tools.
Manually cut trees and brush, clean ditches.
Manually shovel and rake soil, dirt, gravel and other materials.
Manually sweep and hose down surfaces.
Weed cutting and removal.
Maintain vehicles and equipment.
Undertake minor maintenance of power/hand tools.
Wash and clean vehicles, equipment, and buildings.
Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
Operate light vehicles and small tools in a safe manner to complete assigned tasks.
Contribute to a positive safety culture by acting in a safe manner at all times and complying with Town safety policies for staff and contractors.
Actively attend and participate in scheduled meetings, training sessions and special staff events.
Supports any and all programs or events assigned, including Canada Day, Calmar Days, and other special events.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid CSA Safety Boots
A valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license
Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of this position.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as the ability to follow oral and written directions and interact with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
Ability to maintain concentration and alertness in a variety of situations.
Knowledge of OHS and WHIMIS regulations.
Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
Experience in a municipal setting is an asset.
