Under the direction of the Associate Director, Student Success Programs , and working collaboratively with professional staff, students, and faculty members across the division and the University, the StudentSuccess Programs Officer will assume overall responsibility for the planning and implementation of a wide range of programs designed to promote the student engagement and academic success of the Faculty of Arts & Science (FAS) students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Advising and coaching students on co-curricular goal-setting
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in student development/higher education, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a University or College academic or student academic affairs setting building partnerships and developing programs for domestic and international students at the post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programming designed to support student success in higher education
  • Demonstrated facilitation and workshop design experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated experience counseling students in transition and experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of international student issues.
  • Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Experience developing, planning and overseeing large scale events.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, conflict mediation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong project and program managements skill, accuracy and attention to detail, and ability to problem solve with a proactive solutions focus.
  • Demonstrated skills working with diverse students and student groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with international students, external stakeholders including community contacts and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability towork effectively and inclusively within a diverse community with a high level of cross-cultural awareness, understanding and sensitivity.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable with a high level of initiative and results orientation.
  • Knowledge ofstudent development and other related theories.
  • Knowledge of the University of Toronto and FAS policies, procedures, and organizational structures.

USW Pay Band 14 -- $81,000 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $103,588. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
