Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean of Students, Student Life (ADSL), the Coordinator, Student Success and Transition (CSST) supports the planning and implementation of a wide range of programs designed to support the many transitions and student experiences of the College’s students. The CSST promotes community development, academic and cocurricular success and personal development of students through program implementation, leadership development, supporting student groups and student organizations, partnerships with U of T services and offices supporting the student experience and informal interaction with students.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Organizing, summarizing and circulating program and/or course evaluations
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies
  • Liaising with internal contacts to ensure consistent administration of embedded student support services
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degreeor acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent and related experience providing administrative and advising support to student leaders and student organizations in a post-secondary education institution.
  • Experience with student-focused event planning, promotion, and execution.
  • Experience supporting the development of co-curricular activities.
  • Experience working with and advising students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience advising student groups.
  • Experience writing content for and maintaining websites.
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting students in distress and knowledge of risk management procedures.
  • Experience in supporting the planning and facilitation of educational, personal or academically supportive programming for students.
  • Experience developing positive and collaborative working relationships with partners in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students, student leaders and organizations in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize,multi-task and organize work, and meet tight deadlines while able to pay attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a student-centred approach with sensitivity to principles of equity and inclusivity.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with video/audio conferencing software (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to adapt to new and changing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Certified in standard First Aid and CPR.
  • Successfully completed and received a certificate for ASIST and safeTALK.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 - $60,006 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $76,739. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
