Student Human Resources Assistant

Community Living St. Catharines (CLSC) is a dynamic and innovative non-profit social service agency providing services and supports to people who have an intellectual disability. Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Human Resources, the incumbent will provide support for the development, implementation, and administration of the agency\xe2\x80\x99s human resources. Responsibilities will include: health and safety, recruitment and selection, agency training, and administration support. We are seeking one Summer Student to work June-August and the position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with administrative duties including preparing documents and phone calls, filing, and data entry.
  • Updating, and filing of HR records
  • Assist in various Health & Safety projects
  • Develop and update orientation and training content as needed
  • Assist with recruitment including pre-screening, interviewing, completing reference checks, etc.
  • Develop and/or update HR spreadsheets
  • Research, recommend and assist in revision of policy development
  • Complete general HR duties in the HR department as needed
  • Maintain a safe healthy working environment
Qualifications:
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
  • Interest in supporting adults who have intellectual disabilities
  • Interest in Human Resources Management in a not for profit setting
Other Requirements:
  • Satisfactory Police Clearance (18 years and older)
  • Completed or currently enrolled in one of the following post-secondary program: Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Health and Safety is an asset
  • Completion of Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Training (links accessed through www.clstcatharines.ca under \xe2\x80\x9cJob Opportunities\xe2\x80\x9d).
