Human Resources Assistant (Part Time)

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Human Resources Assistant on a part time basis to provide a range of administrative support to the functional areas of Human Resources including recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, compensation, and special projects.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Provide support in executing the day-to-day Human Resources services
  • Coordinate events, schedule meetings, book rooms and catering as required
  • Produce and distribute various written correspondence, reports, and presentations for the HR Team
  • Provide data entry support for HR administration
  • Ensure all department records, paper, and electronic files are set up, maintained, and closed in accordance with established records management procedures
  • Act as first point of contact for employee inquiries and identify appropriate course of action or refer to relevant HR team member for additional support
  • Support full cycle recruitment activities, including preparing recruitment requests, posting jobs, screening resumes, pre-screening candidates, scheduling interviews, extending offers to successful candidates, ensuring the completion of reference checks and security screening, and scheduling first day orientation
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the HR Team and external candidates as required
  • Sources and identifies recruitment resources including campuses, advertising partners, internet, social, and professional websites to support recruitment strategies
  • Coordinate HR\xe2\x80\x99s recruitment activity and participates in external recruiting events
  • Schedules career fairs, job shadow days, and networking events
  • Supports continuous improvement projects and works with team members to streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Business Administration or related field
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Experience in payroll would be an asset
  • High degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Client relations focused
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, proof-reading, and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines and organizational goals
  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic and changing environment
  • Collaboration skills and ability to work in both a team environment as well as independently
  • Intermediate-level MS Office skills
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License and ability to travel between sites as required
