The Strategic Innovation team has an excellent opportunity for a Co-op, Innovation to provide subsurface and data visualization expertise to the team. Key pieces of the role include evaluation of subsurface geothermal schemes and turning data into insightful and useful information. The successful candidate will have a geology/geophysics background and curiosity about data science. They will also be highly organized, upbeat, and work well in a fast-paced team environment that requires taking initiative and handling multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• 
  Assist with subsurface evaluation of geothermal production schemes: assess temperature, permeability, porosity, fractures utilizing existing logs, core data, seismic, depositional models
• 
  Develop model for geothermal development utilizing various data sources e.g. geothermal gradients, commodity pricing
• 
  Assist strategic innovation team with development of models for other innovation initiatives (e.g. lithium, hydrogen, renewable power, biofuels)

Qualifications

• 
  Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation (e.g., work visa)
• 
  Available to begin work in September 2023

Education

• 
  Currently enrolled in a Geology or Geophysics Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
• 
  Attached copies of transcripts
• 
  Currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

Skills / Competencies

• 
  Coding, data mining, querying databases, using machine learning algorithms
• 
  Visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders (e.g. PowerBI)
• 
  Subsurface assessment in the western Canadian sedimentary basin

Relocation
