Job Summary:
The University of the Fraser Valley invites applications for the position of Strategist, Digital Communications. The Strategist, Digital Communications is responsible for the planning and execution of the College of Arts\' communication strategic plan, and for overseeing and producing digital communications and visual content that represent the different programs, events and initiatives in the College of Arts.

The incumbent works collaboratively with the UFV Communications and Marketing department, ensuring procedures and guidelines for web page refresh, web writing, visual identity and ethical communication practices are maintained. This includes managing an integrated system that positively impacts both the faculty and student experience in the College of Arts, and enhances the reputation of UFV as a whole. The Strategist, Digital Communications works to increase visibility of College of Arts programs and initiatives by designing and producing, in a timely and strategic manner, webpages and social media content for the College and its departments and schools.

The Strategist, Digial Communications:
Advises on and develops internal and external communications materials including stories, social media posts, articles, brochures, and websites using a common brand.

Researches, identifies, and develops internal communication strategies and channels in collaboration with the social sciences and humanities departments and university stakeholders.

Develops proactive working relationships with UFV faculty and staff to work towards attaining communication goals.

Facilitates ideation sessions for humanities and social science website development, promotional materials, and social media campaigns.

Manages content development for the College of Arts\xe2\x80\x99 web/digital projects, including briefs and concepts, monthly newsletters, and facilitating ongoing content curation.

Provides direction and influences stakeholders on processes, various communication strategies and/or innovative communication techniques that can be utilized to promote and attract attention to the social science and humanities programs.

Leads and facilitates briefings and retrospective meetings as the project lead to ensure continuous refinement of communication strategies.

Independently researches and evaluates new communications channels and keeps abreast of best practices to stay current in the field. Ensures ethical communication practices are followed and maintained, including copyright, licensing agreements and publication waivers.

Creates marketing material for College of Arts\xe2\x80\x99 events, including student orientation. Plans, prioritizes, organizes department level community engagement and promotional events.

Communicates in a respectful and professional manner with all members of the team, department, University community and external partners.

Engages in learning and activities related to actioning Indigenization and understanding the impact of colonialism and the purpose of reconciliation.

Collaborates effectively as a team member, including sharing information, cross training and interpersonal cooperation.

Demonstrates respect for all members of the UFV community, actively contributing to an environment of acceptance and inclusivity of others.

Participates in committees and project teams as required. Attends meetings, events, and functions outside of regular business hours as required. Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of the position.

Qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Three (3) years of experience with creating, writing and editing content, including storytelling, for promotional and event purposes, ideally within a post-secondary environment.

Demonstrated ability in writing creatively and effectively for a variety of audiences \xe2\x80\x93 e.g. faculty, staff, administration, students, external communities as well as government and media \xe2\x80\x93 and in different voices for education, information sharing, news, storytelling, promotion.

Articulate communicator and presenter; excellent writing, editing, and proofreading, layout and design skills for communication vehicles that deliver key messages to both general and highly targeted audiences

Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience in managing complex projects to completion.

Familiarity and experience with the development of communication and visual content, including identifying visual language that represents UFV and the College of Arts\xe2\x80\x99 events and initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, stay current and adapt to change.

Demonstrated skills and knowledge of current trends in digital media/social media/web design, including strong qualitative research skills.

Functional aptitude with Graphic Design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of Content Management tools. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.

Good working knowledge of current office practices and procedures; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge of UFV internal governance structure and processes, and knowledge of the BC post-secondary system preferred.
