Details of the Project:
Dr. Honig's recently established Centre for Research on Community Oriented Entrepreneurship (CRCE) and the Reframery (https://www.reframery.org/) at McMaster University in Canada have an immediate opening for a qualified Postdoctoral Fellow. This individual will be responsible for conducting research on entrepreneurship, and to coordinate, oversee and manage large interdisciplinary projects involving multiple research institutions, government, industry and community partners. The mission is the development of advanced policies, enhanced partnerships and research publications.
Description of Duties:
Successful candidate will work closely with professors, postdoctoral fellows, graduate/undergraduate students, alongside partners from industry, government (at all levels), academic collaborators and community partners to establish new virtual incubation and mentoring concepts. They will be expected to publish co-authored papers in high-impact journals, present at international conferences, develop grant writing skills by participating in and initiating grant proposal writing, cultivate their mentoring skills by supervision of graduate/undergraduate students and establishing novel directions of research, and foster their leadership and project management skills by coordinating the research activities ongoing at multiple institutions including NGOs and other universities.
Salary:
Salary range is commensurate on experience and capabilities ($55,000 - $68,000). Generous benefit package included.
Term:
12-months with anticipation of renewal.
Position Requirements and Expectations:
The applicant has completed or close to completion of their PhD degree preferable in a related area of business (such as entrepreneurship). Relevant scholars in sociology, history, political science, geography economics, and other related fields will also be considered.
Project management experience and capabilities, including communication with stakeholders, project, progress monitoring and tracking, organization and a willingness to collaborate.
Interest and strong motivation to address entrepreneurship and sustainability challenges with an international lens
Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
Ability to conduct outreach activities to industrial, government and not-for-profit organizations and to co-ordinate their engagement with CRCE.
The ability to work well as part of a team and get along with colleagues.
Capable of independent problem solving and industriousness to solve new research challenges.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to frequently and efficiently produce high quality written work -- Technical writing as well as high level/big picture writing, such as journal papers, conference papers and grant proposals.
The ability to lead projects and propose novel avenues of research exploration.
Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
Experience in the Following Areas is Desirable:
Demonstrated skills related to project management and coordination
Experience at the intersection of entrepreneurship, education, and technology
Contributing to the preparation of peer-reviewed publications in top journals.
Contributing to the preparation of multi-university partnership grants.
