Our facility in Mississauga, Ontario has key positions in Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Support and other disciplines. Operating since 1984, this site specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of a broad portfolio of innovative LED and Lamp technology. The Toronto facility serves a variety of markets such as electronics, optoelectronics, digital printing, general assembly, coatings, and medical device manufacturing, as well as endoscopy, bioscience research, microscopy and instrumentation.

We are presently seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Manager who will be responsible for directing and coordinating the manufacturing efforts of the product lines within the site. This individual will work closely with the Operations team including, Planning, Supply Chain, Warehouse and Manufacturing Engineer teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing the manufacturing effort with the object of establishing an efficient operation using lean tools where product quality, cost and cycle times are optimized.
  • Drive continuous operational performance improvement in terms of safety, quality, and productivity using appropriate metrics.
  • Support the company\xe2\x80\x99s ISO 9001, 14001, and 13485 objectives through improvements to the processes and systems that the company uses in its day to day operations.
  • Participates in short and long-range planning sessions, dealing with manufacturing costs, sales forecast, capital expenditures, resource requirements, expense budgets, etc.
  • Effectively practices performance based management by coaching and developing direct reports.
  • Ensures production schedules are clearly defined. Monitors and reports on progress toward completion of production schedule as well as inventory and delivery impact.
  • Develops and supports production teams; holds teams accountable for meeting performance metrics.
  • Oversees cross-training program and mitigates resource risk.
  • Ensures a high level of employee morale by providing effective communications within his/her organization.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by driving safety related activities in the work area
  • Supports design and development of new products and/or existing product modifications to meet customer requirements.
  • Performs other related duties of comparable complexity as directed.
Requirements:
  • Requires a BS degree in engineering or business and 5-8 years of progressively greater responsibility in operations or engineering roles (preferably in electronics manufacturing)
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience and/or other equivalent training and experience. MBA preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated use of lean and/or six sigma tools. Black or Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Must also be proficient in MS Office and have prior ERP System experience.
  • May be asked to travel to current and new supplier locations (globally) as required to meet quality, performance, and cost objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicates with and engages all levels of the organization verbally and in writing; translates technical decisions/strategies into business terms and implications; produces clear, understandable documentation geared for all audiences.
  • Management of Resources: Allocates time and resources efficiently, focusing on ever-shifting priorities; continually seeks way to improve individual/team efficiency. Demonstrates ability to be an effective leader and manager in a matrix-reporting environment.
  • Business & Organization Knowledge: Understands the business and the impact of the Operations organization on the operation.
  • Change Management: Exhibits an assertive personality with a strong bias for action with a results-orientation; tackles tough problems with firm deadlines.
  • Experience working in an ISO9001, 14001, 13485 certified, and/or FDA QSR compliant environment is an asset.
