Job Description




Provide financial and business support for the Site within the Drug Product Division. This position reports into the Director, Finance Canada and works closely with Site Management to develop and implement strategies to drive profitable growth and improve quality and service levels for our customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports the Site Leadership Team to set and deliver the business plan and meet key operating & financial goals.
  • Serve as a backup to Director, Finance Canada in supporting site General Manager and attending Site Leadership Team meetings and functions
  • Champions and project leads PPI projects across business functions, particularly when cross functional leadership is needed
  • Leads the Annual Operating Plan process, Quarterly & Monthly Business Reviews and weekly forecasts in collaboration with the Director, Finance Canada and Site Leadership Team.
  • Partners with colleagues within the Business Unit (BU) and division to drive both functional and business operational improvements and productivity projects
  • Provides performance reporting tools and metrics plus analysis and recommendations to optimize business results
  • Supports the culture of continuous improvement, working towards standardization and improved performance.
  • Prepares and presents analysis for capital investments
  • Partners with commercial colleagues to develop and model customer deals. Drives and ensures contract compliance
  • Leads and drives the components of cash flow including capital, inventory, and accounts receivable
  • Develops analytical models and tools to drive growth initiatives and improve business decisions
  • Leads and mentors the Site Finance Team to develop enhanced skills and business acumen
  • Maintains strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Selects, develops and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or other relevant analytical background

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of dynamic relevant work experience

Minimum 3 years of management experience

CPA, Chartered Accountant, MBA or equivalent is a plus

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Expertise in the following areas: operations accounting, financial reporting, internal control, financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, project management, and technical accounting knowledge, within a P&L accountable business. Exhibit leadership, initiative and adopt the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4-I values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement. Strong business and industry knowledge and a history of business partnering as well as the ability to develop and implement robust financial processes to drive effective decisions. Ability to identify and champion productivity improvements and create an atmosphere of continuous improvement through PPI (Lean Operational Improvement). Excellent written communication skills, along with clear & concise verbal skills, are essential. Ability to recruit, develop, and manage professional teams and provide constructive feedback through performance and development processes. Ability to handle multiple assignments, work flexible hours and cope with the complexity of tracking and managing multiple, disparate moving parts. Excellent skills with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint are required; experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is helpful. Proficiency with the English Language.
