As a Sr. Manager Data Governance and Data Governance Lead, you will play a key role in defining and leading key components of CarMax\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Data Governance and Data Privacy practices.

In this role, you will perform two primary functions:

Data Governance \xe2\x80\x93 Partner with Business and Technology owners of critical data systems and data usages to define and adhere to CarMax Data Governance policies and Data Stewardship best practices

Data Privacy \xe2\x80\x93 Partner with Business, Technology, Security and Legal leaders to drive the strategy and implementation of our Data Privacy Program

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Governance

Modernize our Enterprise Data Governance policies, standards and procedures

Partner with Technology to implement enterprise data management tools and technology

Build and facilitate a Data Stewardship Community of Practice to enable consistent implementation of data governance and data quality best practices

Data Privacy

Define the strategy and lead key components and capabilities of our Data Privacy Program

Partner with Technology to implement enterprise data privacy tools and technology

Partner with Legal and Compliance to strengthen and build efficiencies within our data privacy processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

8+ years of experience leading Data Governance and/or Data Privacy programs

8+ years of experience implementing data governance and data privacy technologies

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (preferably in STEM field)

Passion for the challenges and opportunities to implement large scale data governance, data quality and data privacy programs

Ability to investigate complex, enterprise-wide data quality issues, quantify key business impacts/metrics, identify root causes, assemble and coordinate the right resources to remediate the issues

Ability to tie quality metrics to business value and key performance metrics

Ability to collaborate and influence senior leaders across organization boundaries

Demonstrates a high level of autonomy and leadership

Demonstrates a high level of persistence in pursuing long tail solutions

Experience operating in an Agile and Product development environment

Experience leading and developing a team of data governance/privacy professionals
