Department Overview

The Branch Analytics team is a group of Business Insights experts that thrive to improve our retail operations. Working closely with Distribution, PBDE, Finance and HR, we provide analysis to develop and support programs and initiative designed to improve the retail experience for our colleagues and customers. We believe in forward-thinking leadership and insights. We are part of the TECE spoke under ED&A (Enterprise Data & Analytics) and we work closely with our colleagues with different expertise. We believe in using every resource at our disposal to better serve our clients, and this includes our vast data.

• Analytical thinker with record of delivering business impact and results through developing and executing on innovative analytics solutions
• Business analysis skills coupled with capabilities to provide meaningful insights for sound decision-making, and to build strategic initiatives and planning
• Technical understanding and critical thinking to challenge business cases, analyses and hypotheses
• Strong problem-solving skills, mathematical and data literacy
• Flexibility to adapt and run with contending priorities and the ability to shift focus as dynamic business needs evolve
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal ability to tell a compelling story which can be consumed by business partners
• Aspirations to build in-depth industry and retail banking knowledge including current trends in data, analytics and technology
• Strong understanding of data manipulation, with preference to Python, SQL, SAS and Excel
• Above the average understanding of EDW/EDPP customer and transactional
• Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau/Cognos an asset
• Experience with Spark, Scala, Hive and Impala an asset

Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

• Degree in business, science, statistics, engineering, or other quantitative discipline

Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant experience in analytics and/or data science
• Strong relationship builder and presenter
• Experience & effectively communicate analysis results to business audiences not familiar with complex data and analytics
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Retail experience an asset

About this Role

Are you a big picture thinker?
You are exactly the kind of thinking TD needs when it comes to our business insights and analytics. You will need to take a holistic, high level approach to creating key business insights for major projects and initiatives across TD.
Reporting to a Manager Analytics and Insights, the analyst will work directly with partners to develop and implement elite analytical solutions and help make analytics a bold advantage for TD.
The individual will be considered a business insights subject matter expert for the area of business they are supporting and will work in close consultation with business leaders along with data and analytics teams across Personal Banking.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic fast-paced and high impact business team.
You will have hands-on experience working in analytical environments, with a deep understanding of data mining and analytical techniques, meaningful experience building strong working relationships, and success in effectively identifying and running client requirements and expectations.

• Work closely with business owners to see opportunities and collaborate with partners to find the right solution
• Design and deliver powerful business insights, with a focus on advancing the value realized from advanced analytics techniques
• Work with the business to inform strategic analytics planning and prioritize key initiatives which will help pivot the business
• Be a part of a highly interactive, team-oriented environment and be able to effectively translate complex analytical concepts to executive and business sponsors
• Serve as an authority on a given business domain and provide business expertise to place context around analytics discovery
• Present insights back to executive leaders / business partners to drive strategic improvement
• Act as mentor to other team analysts providing analytical technical & business know-how support
