As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role

The Sr. Associate, Manufacturing Engineering supports Optical Assembly by applying Engineering concepts to the Optical Assembly process and tooling development.The successful candidate will possess the required knowledge to support Optical Assembly Alignment equipment utilization.

Focused on optical quality and reliability of MX Product and working in a cross-functional team with engineering, production, manufacturing engineering and procurement, this person is responsible for improving the quality of WESCAM product, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Responsible for the development of manufacturing processes, procedures and tooling for WESCAM products.This includes the creation of PFMEA, SPC, First Pass Approval (FPA), control plans, Validation and tooling and test procedures.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Support translation of product specifications from engineering to manufacturing procedures

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Contribute to the technology and capital roadmap

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Leadership and support for continuous improvement initiatives and projects

oUtilization of cellular manufacturing, design for manufacturing, SPC, 5S, Point of Use, etc.

oIdentification and monitoring of first pass yield and rolling yield

oTake action on yield issues to develop corrective action and process fixes

oLead tiger teams in quality issues as they pertain to containment and corrective action activities

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Identify failure trends & systemic issues, conduct 8D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Support documentation changes, including assembly procedures, Work Instructions and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and production staff, and implement changes as required.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Lead and participate in assigned projects related to New Product Introduction (NPI) or Sustaining activities within Operations Engineering

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership

Desired Experiences & Education

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Must have a well-rounded optical assembly background with manufacturing engineering experience in a high tech environment.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Excellent knowledge of Systems, Opto-Mechanical Manufacturing and Process Engineering.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Technical communication skills both verbal and written.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Able to read and understand Mechanical drawings, Optical Drawings

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD an asset

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Experience using Matlab, Zeemax, and Code 5 an asset

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7University degree coupled with relevant work experience in Optics or Manufacturing Engineering.

\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity.
