Some of what you will do: The primary responsibility of this role is to partner with the business (and external business partners, if necessary) to ensure projects and initiatives are reported in an accurate, complete and timely manner. This involves creating profitability and cash flow models, performing analyses and reconciliations and reporting on new products and services. This individual will work closely with operations to assist with evaluating the profitability of new projects and initiatives. This individual will also evaluate accounting issues and prepare the quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A. Specifically, You Will: Projects and Initiatives
Partner with the business to assess projects and initiatives, collaborate with cross functional teams to gather information, and provide a point of view on the financial implications
Build accurate and complete financial models for projects and initiatives
Work closely with external business partners and the business to validate accuracy and completeness of third-party reports to internal system records for new initiatives
Maintain relationships with the business, IT and other Finance areas to evaluate and support projects and initiatives
Assist in the execution and implementation/transition of projects in accordance with IFRS and company policies
Participate in the implementation of systems and solutions with financial implications
Financial Reporting and Management Reporting
Prepare financial statements, their accompanying notes and the MD&A
Prepare memorandums and analyses on complex accounting issues, such as IFRS 2, 9 and 15
Act as a primary point of contact with the external auditors on technical accounting issues and provide assistance/support for audits on such issues
Engage with the business and assist in the tracking of synergies from integration efforts
Assist in financial and operational due diligence and project manage activities of cross functional teams, including external consultants and advisors, if necessary
M&A evaluation, due diligence and integration as required
Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset within the finance team
Other projects and ad hoc requests as required
Some of what you need:
University degree or equivalent in accounting, business, finance or a related field
CPA designation required
4-6 years of progressive finance experience
Public company reporting experience
In-depth knowledge and practical application of IFRS
Resourceful and strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with members of the finance team and the business
Strong attention to detail
Independent while collaborative and a strong team player
Takes ownership and initiative
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Results oriented and the ability to work under tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities
Ability to work with a positive attitude and in a professional manner
Enjoy working in a fast paced, changing environment
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
ERP Oracle experience an asset
