Job Description

The Faculty of Education is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following online courses during the 2024-25 Spring and Summer Sessions in our graduate program.


04:754 (NET) Education of Children with Learning Disabilities I



(2025 Spring Session, Both Term May 5 - June 19, 2025)





This course will focus on teaching children who have significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning or mathematical skills; these difficulties not being primarily due to other disabling conditions nor to extrinsic influences. The focus of this course will be on the identification and teaching of children with learning disabilities. The development of children with learning disabilities will also be discussed.


04:757 (NET) Education of Children with Behavioural Disorders II



(2025 Spring Session, Both Term (May 5 - June 19, 2025)





This course will focus on the development of advanced skills in teaching children with behavioural disorders. The appropriateness of various educational approaches to providing for these children will be examined. Collaboration with other professionals in order to effectively support these children in the home, school, and community will also be discussed.


04:760 (NET) Education of Children Who are Gifted, Talented and Creative



(2025 Summer Session, Term 2 July 28 - August 18, 2025)





This course will focus on children who have the potential to be or who are significantly advanced in intellectual, creative, artistic, academic or leadership abilities. The focus of the course will be on the identification and teaching of students who are gifted, talented and creative. The advanced development of these children will be examined. Educational alternatives such as acceleration and enrichment will be considered.


Qualifications:



Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Ph.D. in educational psychology or a related field. Candidates who hold a Master's Degree in a helping profession such as Inclusive Education or School Psychology, and substantial clinical experience, will also be considered. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Masters degree and are invited to contact the Dean of Education on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials; please direct such inquiries to the email address below. Experience teaching adult learners using distance mediated synchronous learning is preferred. The successful candidate must also be accepted into the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Salary:

$6,901 per 3 credit hour course
