Job Description

The Faculty of Arts is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following courses taught in the Business Administration Department at the Brandon University Campus for the Fall Session in Term 1. The course may be delivered in an online synchronous format but preference will be given to qualified candidates who will teach in-person.

Qualifications:

Successful candidate will hold a Master's Degree or equivalent in a related field, and those holding a Ph.D. or who are at the ABD stage may be preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. Relevant expertise in the specified area is required. Successful teaching experience is preferred.


Salary:

$7,857.00 per 3 credit hour course.

16:250 MANAGERIAL STATISTICS (Tuesday 7-10pm)



An introduction to statistical concepts and procedures and their application to Business Administration. Topics covered include: descriptive statistics, probability, binomial, Poisson, exponential and normal distributions, statistical inference for one population and comparison of two populations. Simple linear and multiple linear regression and Chi-Square tests. The use of spreadsheets will be emphasized throughout.


16:252 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING (Monday-7-10 pm)



An introduction to the use of accounting information for internal management purposes focusing on cost analysis and planning and control decisions. Topics covered include C-V-P analysis; master, static and flexible budgets, the determination of relevant costs and responsibility accounting and performance measurement.


16: 388 CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN THE WORKPLACE (Wednesday 7-10pm)



This course aims to develop an understanding of social conflict and cultural diversity in the workplace in contemporary Canada. It will explore diversity initiatives in the workplace and what makes them matter. Questions addressed include the following: How does cultural conflict act as a catalyst for social change within our workplaces? What are the impacts of a diverse cultural religious and generational population, and what human resources strategies exist to mitigate against any difficulties a heterogeneous workplace population poses for the 21st century HR Manager?


16:391 OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT (Wednesday 7-10pm)



This course is concerned with the management of the function of creating and providing the goods and services aimed at meeting and satisfying customer needs. Modern topics such as continuous quality improvement, value chain analysis, benchmarking, just-in-time management, new technology and process/product flexibility will be covered as also will several traditional and micro-management topics such as process control and capability, demand forecasting, production and capacity planning, scheduling and inventory control. Quantitative models, techniques and analysis will be introduced where appropriate.


16:482 ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT (Tuesday 7-10pm)



This course presents a practical model for linking preventive, informal and formal methods of system design of change management within an institutional framework. Participants learn how to integrate the theory and practice of contemporary interest-based communications and conflict management with other internal organizational policies and initiatives to support improved organizational effectiveness.
