Founded in 1996, Tourism Sun Peaks is a not-for-profit, member-based destination marketing and management organization (DMO), with over 1,500 members representing accommodations, activities/ attractions, restaurants, retail and homeowners. Our team is a group of outdoor enthusiasts and we love our backyard. We work to grow Sun Peaks\xe2\x80\x99 reputation as one of the leading mountain resort destinations in Canada. POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Director, Destination and Market Development, the Specialist is responsible for raising awareness of Sun Peaks through the travel media program and supporting the overall efforts of the department. This role is extremely detail oriented and requires a high level of professionalism and accuracy. The Specialist excels in their ability to multi task and balance priorities. Focus is placed on implementing the media program including, coordinating itineraries and hosting media, travel trade and industry as required and ensuring all media related material is current. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the primary liaison related to travel media and fulfill media requests
• Foster relationships with journalists, freelancers, industry and Sun Peaks stakeholders
• Mine unique story ideas from within Sun Peaks that resonate and are on trend
• Create press releases, story ideas, trade newsletter and other editorial material as required
• Work closely with the Market Development Manager to coordinate show schedules, registration and logistics
• Oversee the departments collateral needs including tradeshow flatsheets and booth materials
• Create, coordinate and execute media, travel trade and industry familiarisation tour itineraries
• Maintain the media and trade web page with current content and updated training presentations

Job Requirements/Qualifications: SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Post secondary education with a concentration in tourism, public relations or communications
• Minimum 2 years experience working with media or in a DMO environment
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work with a high level of efficiency
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Superior professional communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal and public speaking)
• Ability to generate interest through compelling storytelling
• Advance writing ability (creative and professional)
• Proactive and innovative in your approach
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as required, some travel may be required
• Enjoys and is motivated by working both autonomously and in a team setting
• Passion and energy for the outdoor and mountain lifestyle
• Intermediate or advanced skiing and/or mountain biking ability would be an asset
