Rangoli Restaurant is seeking an experienced and skilled
South Indian Chef
to join our kitchen team at our Kitchener location. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in authentic South Indian cuisine, including traditional preparation methods, spices, and presentation, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, uttapams, sambhar, rasam, chutneys, and curries
Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation as per Rangoli standards
Manage mise en place and ensure timely food preparation during service hours
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in the kitchen
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering kitchen supplies as needed
Coordinate with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations
Minimize food wastage and follow portion control guidelines
Comply with all health and safety regulations
Requirements:
Proven experience as a South Indian Chef in a restaurant or hotel setting
Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian cooking techniques and spices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Team-oriented with good time management skills
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Handler certification preferred)
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Indian or South Indian specialty restaurants
Ability to handle high-volume service
Experience in a Canadian restaurant environment is an asset
