The club is just minutes from downtown Vancouver, but you feel like you are far away with nature surrounding.

UGC is currently looking for an experienced

Sous Chef

to add to their Food & Beverage team. This role involves directly supporting the Executive Chef and the kitchen staff in facilities to include the Westward-Ho! Patios & other On-Course F&B services. The Sous Chef directly leads the kitchen department ensuring the highest level of service by overseeing all aspects of event preparation & restaurant daily service during operating hours. The Sous Chef will support the Executive Chef and act as the point of contact and leader of the kitchen when the Chef is not on duty. The successful candidate will also have a great opportunity for growth as they will be working with a mentor that has 40+ years experience.

Key Responsibilities:



Manages execution and preparation aspects in specific food and beverage assigned areas and operations and acknowledges, greets and thanks all staff Supports the management of the kitchen to ensure proper preparation, execution, and clean up Directly manages the coordination, set up, and execution of all kitchens daily requirements including inventory control and ordering. Works with Golf Operations team regarding Golf related events and the events office bookings Supports the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager and acts as the kitchen leader when required Supports the Executive Chef in supervising kitchen staff ensuring all club and departmental policies are adhered to including uniforms, opening/closing procedures, codes of conduct, cleaning schedules, and operational systems Creates and supports systems that enable effective recruitment, training, and orientation for new and returning staff Maintains balanced staffing and scheduling strategies to meet business needs

Qualifications & Skills



7+ years minimum experience in a similar position and environment Leadership experience is a must in a fast-paced environment Technical skills using ordering systems/payroll systems/inventory controls is a must Food safe certified (within 1 week of employment) Long periods of standing and walking is required Must have a passion for the business and a love of food Capacity to work well under pressure, meeting production schedules and timelines for service periods Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, Red Seal and journeyman certificate is an asset Positive attitude and ability to be proactive and resourceful

Working Hours:



5 days/40 hours week. Hours of work vary based on seasonal needs/OT required.

Compensation & Benefits:



Competitive Salary; Range between

$55,000 - $65,000
