Key Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, which may include abdomen, pelvis, OB/GYN, small parts (breast, scrotal, thyroid), and musculoskeletal (MSK) scans, accurately measuring pertinent anatomy and documenting pathology as noted.
Operate and maintain ultrasound machines to capture clear and accurate images of internal body structures.
Prepare patients for procedures, explaining what to expect, and ensuring their comfort throughout the exam.
Show normal and abnormal findings, providing initial observations for review by physicians.
Accurately record patient details, exam results, and observations in medical records.
Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis.
Follow safety guidelines and quality control measures to protect patients and deliver reliable diagnostics.
Ensure sanitation within the scanning area (ultrasound unit, transducer, gel bottles) and maintain supplies by restocking linen and scanning documents.
Qualifications:
Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Certified by Sonography Canada (CRGS) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Demonstrated proficiency in performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including those listed above.
Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a patient-centered approach.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Proficiency with relevant computer systems and PACS.
