We are seeking enthusiastic and patient Volunteer Coaches for our Youth Softball "Learn to Play" program. This role is dedicated to introducing children aged
5 to 10
to the fundamental skills of softball in a positive, fun, and non-competitive environment. The primary goal is to foster a
love for the game
, build
essential skills
, and teach the value of
good teamwork
and sportsmanship.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about youth development and can provide positive encouragement to young athletes of all skill levels.
Key Responsibilities
Time Commitment:
Lead one dedicated session per week (approximately
1-2 hours
) (Tuesdays) which includes skill practices and basic, introductory scrimmages/games.
Program Development (NEW):
Collaborate with the Organization's leadership to review and enhance the "Learn to Play" curriculum, offering insights and suggestions for improving the program structure, activities, and overall participant experience.
Foster a Love for the Game:
Create a fun, dynamic, and engaging session environment where players look forward to coming to the field. Emphasize enjoyment and participation over winning.
Skill Development:
Design and lead age-appropriate activities that focus on fundamental softball skills, including throwing, catching, hitting, running, and basic field positioning.
Teamwork and Sportsmanship:
Act as a positive role model by consistently demonstrating excellent sportsmanship. Teach players the importance of supporting teammates and cooperating.
Safety and Wellness:
Ensure a safe practice environment and adhere to all league safety protocols.
Player Focus:
Treat every player with equal regard and respect, ensuring all players receive equal attention regardless of skill level.
Qualifications
Experience/Professionalism:
Prior coaching, teaching, or significant youth leadership experience is highly valued. Candidates must exhibit
sound judgment
and a
strong commitment to professional boundaries
and ethical behavior.
Key Attributes:
Must demonstrate
maturity, dependability, and strong organizational skills.
We seek individuals who are patient, highly responsible, and can communicate effectively with both young children and parents.
Life Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience in guiding and mentoring young children (e.g., as a parent, teacher, long-term volunteer, or youth leader).
Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of softball or baseball rules and fundamentals (or willingness to learn).
Certification:
Must successfully complete a background check
Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $35.00 per hour
