The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada\'s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant and trauma inpatient programs as well as a vast number of ambulatory clinics. This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program responsible for the adult patient population and will support patients specifically who are within the adult social work team, concentrating services with the acute neurosciences service area, but will also have opportunities to learn and provide services to other clinical areas on the hospital campus as indicated. Description:

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:

This position supports adult neurosciences inclusive of neuro ICU, experience with trauma informed care, grief and loss, family centered care are an asset. Possess proven communication skills to work cooperatively and with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Must have at 2 years of recent work experience with assessing and treating a variety of different acute patient populations within an acute care hospital. Knowledge and experience of the application of the Destination Home philosophy and awareness of community resources in and around Edmonton is required. Must be comfortable in ICU setting and working with COVID-19 patients. Awareness of Cardiopulmonary and stroke rehabilitation are an asset. Experience with discharge planning is required. You are able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impacts, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate to effectively plan treatments and discharges from hospital. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively. Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are preferred. Familiarity with Connect Care, Netcare and principles of electronic documentation are preferred. Master\'s Degree and authorization for psychosocial interventions are an asset.
