Your Opportunity:

This Social Worker II works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams to provide Social Work support to patients and families at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. These Units represent a fast-paced environment where the successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for pre and post-natal care and the needs of newborns and their families. The successful candidate will demonstrate high level critical thinking, problem solving, and compassion with a focus on patient and family centered care. Your skills in communication and resource management will be proven and your ability to prioritize and function within a team setting is crucial. You will have a proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established policy and procedures of AHS, while engaging strategies to meet the needs of children and families.

Description:

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of professional Social Work experience. This position requires a high degree of independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and an ability to prioritize workload and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team; Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Meditech, Connect Care. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working in the health care system is an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act; Awareness of postpartum MH screening and supports; Awareness of postpartum Mental Health screening and resources for referral; Demonstrates knowledge of birth trauma and/or trauma informed approaches to care.
