This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program responsible for the adult patient population and will support patients specifically who are within the surgical acute care units team, concentrating services with the social work service area, but will also have opportunities to learn and provide services to other clinical areas on the hospital campus as indicated. Description:

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor\'s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). Additional Required Qualifications:

You will have proven communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment tending to biopsychosocial needs of patients to support safe discharge. Minimum 1-2 years\' experience working as an RSW in an inpatient surgical unit setting and multidisciplinary clinic dealing with a variety of medical concerns. Possess proven communication skills to work cooperatively and with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. You will hold working knowledge of the health care system and the full spectrum of relevant community resources. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals. You additionally must be in good standing with the ACSW and be registered. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in acute care setting with 1-2 years\' experience. Experience working in an electronic medical record, connect care, and net care preferred. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative partnerships and relationships. Master\'s Degree and authorization for restricted psychosocial interventions are an asset.
