SHIPPING MANAGER
NuFlow Technologies (www.nuflow.com) develops, manufactures and installs innovative technologies to rehabilitate infrastructure of deteriorated and failing water and fluid piping systems using an array of cured-in-place pipe lining solutions. NuFlow’s rapid growth and investment in new products has necessitated the requirement for an individual to lead the day-to-day functions of our Shipping activities. The position is based in our manufacturing facility in Ajax, Ontario, Canada,

Objective:
Reporting to the Sr. VP of Plant Operations, the Shipping Manager oversees day-to-day functions of the organization’s Shipping Department and guides and instructs department personnel. The Shipping Manager also monitors the department’s performance for areas and ways to improve quality and performance. The Shipping Manager will also work in conjunction with Sales and Accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for employee safety & ensuring all work areas are clean & organized
  • Share responsibility for inventory control with plant operations
  • Book freight for shipments via, air, truck, intermodal containers
  • Oversee shipping activities, keeping shipment records (inventory management), and forwarding relevant information to Sales and Accounting on shipment of goods
  • Authorize and oversee return of goods (returned goods authorization)
  • Resolve damages and discrepancies (with shippers, vendors, etc.)
  • Manage shipping (and inventory control) personnel
  • Perform other job-related duties (e.g., taking from finished goods inventory, preparing goods for shipment), as needed
  • Ability to communicate orally with shipping/logistics companies, coworkers, and other department managers is crucial.
  • Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential.
  • Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety Policies/Procedures and ISO9001 Quality Procedures

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required
  • 2+ years of material handling experience
  • Experience managing shipping/receiving clerks is preferred
  • Looking for someone with leadership potential
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others are essential
  • Strong math, organizational, and computer skills are required;
  • Prefer experience with shipping/receiving/inventory software.
  • Need a self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Occasional heavy lifting (50+ lbs.) may be required (for example, moving finished goods from inventory to shipping area). Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners).
