Job Description


Jealous Fruits is the northernmost large scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.

Job purpose
Under the direction of the Logistics Manager the Shipping Manager/Supervisor will ensure seamless shipping of our product around the world during our harvest season.

Duties and responsibilities
In-harvest

  • Daily monitoring of order entries in Famous ERP and adding/editing data to those orders to help plan and arrange shipments and distribute information to stakeholders each day.
  • Update packing priorities regularly in accordance with up-to-date information from QC and Sales.
  • In collaboration with Sales/ Fulfillment team, ensure all inventory is accounted for and sold in timely manner, with the goal of meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Utilizing 5G live online trackers attached to all shipments, monitor temperature data to ensure the ideal temperature range is maintained throughout the delivery process, from our facility to final delivery point. Address all discrepancies/variances with appropriate stakeholders to ensure our cherries arrive to our customers in the freshest condition.
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage to inventory and to achieve full warehouse optimization
  • Manage the storage and movement of goods effectively, with safety as the highest priority
  • Daily interaction with Logistics team with regards to pick up appointments, schedules, carriers
  • Shipping, order assembly, inventory control and asset management
  • Ensure shipments are loaded as per customers\xe2\x80\x99 requirements, and keep record of them
  • Monitor warehouse temperature and change if needed
  • Train staff on push back system racks, ERP System, forklift operation
  • Fill orders accurately and promptly
  • Assist, escort customers, or their agents, to facilitate visual inspection of their orders
  • Take part in Health and Safety training and ensure staff follow H&S protocols
  • Take part in ACR training and ensure staff follow ACR protocols
  • Various other tasks including emailing customers & partners, scanning documents, and making/receiving phone calls with carriers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
Out of harvest
  • Orchard care and property & maintenance projects
  • Inventory/Packaging Warehouse reconciliation and prep
  • Pre harvest organization and planning
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must be highly organized with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of HACCP / Global Gap / Canada Gap standards is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills required for the fluid and fast paced perishable fruit industry.
  • Able to learn quickly and take direction from supervisors and management when required.
  • Able to work for extended periods of time in a focused, safe, and professional manner.
  • Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Spreadsheets, Word Processors, ERP and Email Management Systems.
  • Able to work under pressure and timelines.
  • Forklift experience
  • Able to manage a team of 5+ warehouse employees.
Working conditions
Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season. Applicants should be aware that:
  • Work hours are generally at least 50+ hours per week, weekend work will be required.
  • Applicants must be available from early March until mid-December.
  • Must be able to work in cool temperature, often below 0 degrees Celsius.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.

Job Types: Full-time
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 Commensurate with Experience
