As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager and enthusiastic experienced Shipping Manager to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in the manufacturing industry.

This role is primarily responsible for overseeing the shipment and delivery of products and goods to its customers, and ensuring that all shipments are completed in a timely and efficient manner, while also ensuring that products are properly packaged, handled, organized, and improve with respect to customs, freight, 3PL logistics and product compliance encompassing Active\xe2\x80\x99s global presence.

This position reports to the Director of Global Supply Chain Management.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the shipping department staff
  • Plan, organize, and manage the daily operations of the shipping department
  • Oversee the shipping of products and goods to customers and suppliers
  • Ensure that all products are properly packaged, labelled, and shipped according to company standards and regulations
  • Track and manage shipping costs and expenses, and work to minimize shipping costs wherever possible
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, carriers, and freight forwarding
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with shipping software and technology, such as UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and operate machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks (if required by the job)
  • Manage and maintain relationships with shipping carriers
  • Coordinate with other departments such as inventory, sales, customer service, and production to ensure timely and accurate shipping of products
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective shipping operations
  • Hire, train, and manage shipping staff, and ensure that all employees are following company policies and procedure
  • Ensuring all Shipping personnel are following customers specific requirements related to shipments
  • To train, develop, mentor, direct and discipline subordinates to ensure a productive, efficient and competent workforce to meet scheduled requirements in a safe environment
  • In conjunction with Shipping personnel, to set up shipments when shipping requests are received
  • Creating bill of ladings and custom documents as required
  • Ensuring ASN\'s are created, submitted and accepted by our customers based on their timeline and expectations, and all documentation is maintained on a timely manner
  • Maintain green scorecards with all our customers
  • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in work area and department
  • Follow company policies on Health, Safety & Environment and PPE requirements
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job and encourage all subordinates to do the same
  • Manage outbound logistics
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
What you bring along:
  • College diploma and/or combination of Grade 12 with minimum of 5 years of experience as a manager or hands-on Supervisory experience in a related field
  • Licensed forklift driver
  • Good working knowledge of ERP or similar systems
  • Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills an asset
