Summary Under the supervision of the Production Planning Manager, the Evening Shipping Manager is responsible for managing the evening shift of the plant shipping department (shipping office personnel and shipping hourly staff)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper packaging/crating/palletizing, shipping and inspection of all outbound product and materials.
• Partner with on-site production managers and production schedulers to plan for shipping needs.
• Manage and maintain all shipping paperwork and data
• Assist with creating and sustaining 5S standards throughout warehouse and packaging areas.
• Supervise shipping team to verify that all safety and quality standards are met.
• Foster a culture of safety by promoting employee involvement and ensuring compliance to Health and Safety policies.
• Assist in development, and implement safety awareness programs, communicate safety issues, correct safety-related problems and assist in investigations into safety-related issues as needed and as directed.
• Manage team performance and results by holding employees accountable to expectations and goals.
• Develop employees through training and coaching and by providing clear roles and consistent support and feedback.
• Monitor and track employee attendance through the Company\xe2\x80\x99s digital timekeeping system.
• Develop and manage continuous improvement projects.
• Provide leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN\xe2\x80\x99s Mission Statement.
• May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Production Planning, Plant Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field preferred, Associates degree and relevant job experience required.
• 5+ years shipping and/or logistics experience to include managing a high volume, made to order product.
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem solving skills, and the ability to drive process improvement techniques throughout the shipping process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
• Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide appropriate training on CI methods and initiatives to subordinates.
• The ability to motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict, and possess a basic understanding of management principles and concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
• Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis.
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications.
• Travel is primarily local during the business day. May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars and training.
