Assists Supervisor with daily Shipping/Receiving responsibilities in accordance with plant policies and procedures in compliance with safety policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs regular shipping duties while acting as a backup for the Shipping Supervisor and other absent team members.
Takes day-to-day direction from the Shipping Supervisor and supports the shipping team in line with plant policies and health and safety regulations.
Leads by example to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and productivity.
Ensures proper use and maintenance of all required personal protective equipment (PPE), and that employees understand their importance.
Ensures all incidents, injuries, or near-misses are properly treated, documented, and reported in accordance with company policies.
Participates in the training of new and existing employees on processes, safety, and equipment usage.
Actively supports and contributes to achieving shipping and receiving goals and deadlines.
Identifies and troubleshoots operational issues and promptly escalates them to the Shipping Supervisor.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.
Monitors and manages the shipping windows between Production and Shipping to ensure smooth workflow.
Verifies accuracy of outgoing shipments by examining contents and comparing with shipping documentation.
Oversees the sequence, accuracy, and safe loading of trucks for outbound delivery.
Works closely with the Shipping Supervisor to assist in scheduling, time management, attendance tracking, labour forecasting, and progressive discipline as required.
Demonstrates strong leadership and problem-solving skills; motivates and supports team members to meet performance expectations.
Ensures that all machinery, equipment, and tools are maintained in safe, operational condition.
Consistently performs manual handling tasks, including pushing, pulling, lifting, and maneuvering windows and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Maintains a high level of accuracy and efficiency in scanning, picking, and packing processes.
Maintains accountability for the quality and accuracy of all tasks performed within the shipping area.
Performs any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor or Shipping Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/shipping environment;
experience in the window industry is required
.
2-3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong understanding of modern shipping processes, procedures, and equipment.
Familiarity with
accurate scanning systems
, as well as picking and packing best practices.
Proven proficiency in computer systems (e.g., shipping software, data entry).
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Able to take ownership and accountability for work and team outcomes.
Manual dexterity and physical capability to regularly push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Valid
Counterbalance Propane Forklift Certification
is required.
