Beagle Paws Rescue Shelter Assistant

Approximately 15-20 hours per week to start with opportunity for more on call shifts. RELIABILITY A MUST.

Pay: $16 per hour starting wage

Beagle Paws Rescue is looking a shelter assistant position at its Adoption and Education Centre in Goulds.

Beagle Paws Rescue is a registered charitable organization established in St. John's, NL in 2003, since then, it has become Canada's largest Beagle rescue, re-homing thousands of Beagles right across the country with the help of volunteer chapters and supporters coast-to-coast. Its mandate is to facilitate the intake and adoption of Beagles in need, while educating the public that "Beagles are more than just hunting dogs, they are pets too!"

Duties of the Shelter Assistant will include caring for several rescue dogs at a time (Including cleaning and maintaining kennels, food and medication administration, etc.), and other tasks as required. The shelter assistant will work with the Shelter Manager on dog intake and other duties as required. The Shelter Assistant will also work with the volunteer executive board on coordinating adoptions and other administrative duties (replying to emails, creating and maintaining spreadsheets etc.)

These positions require persons to be very flexible and able to work a variety of hours including some evenings (until 9 pm), possible split shifts on occasion and some weekends. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, flexibility and RELIABILITY is essential.

Education: High school diploma required plus experience in the animal care industry is considered an asset. Multi-dog environment experience is considered an asset.
